Sitting here wondering how millions of people jump on a band wagon about Michael Jackson. What is it that drives people to entertainers? Why have they become so larger than life.
I like music as well as anyone, but it is just that "music", it is entertainment. How does one entertainer recieve a enormous amount of publicity during his death. How can a state justify using the state taxes to pay for a memorial service, better yet do people really think it is okay to let the state decide how their taxes are used. How are they not outraged? Where did our sense of rationality go when a singer receives more attention than those that have actually made a impact to our society. There are people that have given their entire life in the betterment of our race, only to find in their passing, their accomplisments are in fine print in some obscure obituary.
True heroes exist and we casually and continuosly ignore their accomplishments. I could give a rats tail about the life of a entertainer, ever wonder how court jester's became more famous than the king. At least in those days people realized that the entertainers were just that. Now to be fair there are some people that are entertainers who give generously and fight for a cause but I see them for the cause not their entertainer stature. But Michael jackson even Elvis Presely gave nothing to this society that effected this society for the good. They both made a ton of money and spent on themselves, granted that is their chose and have every right too. So why should we treat them like larger than life. Ask yourself was Michael Jackson or Elvis even a good role model.
Why cant socitey give thanks to the true heroes, so many of them. Soldiers, firefighter, nurses, doctors, scie ntist the list goes on. The whole ironic rub to this all is that the media , like a Pied Piper played all those people. What if nobody would have shown up to his memorial, what if everyone would have went instead to another memorial, someone who truely deserved it. Now that would have been a story.
Lets put all those entertainers and media people back in the obscure pages of their own papers, and lets stand and recognize those that truely deserve our attention. I venture to say fifty years from now; none of micheal's songs will have ever cured a disease or save a life. We can put his songs and hits right next to "Twinkle twinkle Little Star" or "Little Bunny Foo Foo".
